🇮🇳 Passport Size Photo — Complete Guide

Today, making a passport size photo online is a must for every government exam, bank form, and ID card. Whether it's SSC CGL or UPSC IAS, Railway RRB or an Aadhaar update — every one of them needs a photo of the correct size and correct KB. Upload the wrong photo, and your form gets rejected — a problem that causes real trouble for many students.

Our Free Passport Size Photo Maker by CheckerTools.in solves all of this in one place. No app to download, no registration, and your photo is never uploaded to a server — 100% private and secure.

📋 What Photo Size Is Needed for Each Exam?

SSC (Staff Selection Commission) — CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD: All SSC exams require a 3.5cm × 4.5cm (35×45mm) JPG photo. The maximum file size should be between 20KB and 50KB. The background should be white or a light color. Select the SSC preset in this tool and apply 50KB compression — that's all you need.

UPSC (IAS/IPS Civil Services): UPSC requires a 35mm × 45mm JPG photo under 300KB in size. The face should cover about 80% of the frame, and a light background is required. A separate signature scan is also needed — use the Signature tab for that.

Railway RRB (NTPC, Group D, ALP, TC): Railway forms require a 35×45mm JPG photo with a maximum size of 100KB and a minimum resolution of 200 DPI. Apply the Railway preset and 100KB compression in this tool to get exactly the right photo.

Aadhaar Card Update/Enrollment: Aadhaar requires a 35×45mm JPG photo under 200KB. The same size is accepted at enrollment centers too. Just select the Aadhaar preset directly.

PAN Card (NSDL/UTIitsl): The photo size for a PAN card application is a little different — 53×45mm (width × height). Here the width is larger. The PAN Card preset is already set up in this tool.

IBPS PO / SBI PO / Clerk / RRB Officer: Bank exams require a 35×45mm passport photo in JPG format. The file size should be between 50KB and 100KB. A signature is also needed separately at 140×60px — the Signature tab is available for that.

🎨 How to Make a Photo Background White or Blue — Online Free

Many exams ask for a specific background color — mostly white. Some bank and passport applications also accept a light blue background. Go to the Background Color section in this tool — select white, blue, light blue, red, or grey with one click. Use the custom color picker to choose any color you want. The change appears instantly in the live preview so you can check it before downloading.

⚡ How to Compress a Photo to Exactly 50KB or 20KB

Government forms have strict file size limits — if the photo is too large, the form won't even submit. This is a common problem students face while filling out forms. Our tool uses a smart iterative compression algorithm — it repeatedly adjusts the JPEG quality until the output file comes within your exact target KB. Just select 20KB, 50KB, 100KB or whatever you need from the dropdown — the tool handles the rest. A quality slider is also available for fine-tuning.

🖨️ How to Print 8 Passport Photos on an A4 Sheet — PDF Download

Once your photo is ready, click the PDF button — a print-ready A4 PDF will download with 8 passport size photos arranged in a 4×2 grid. Take it to your local photo studio or print it at home. No separate cutting guides needed — just print and cut.

🔒 Is the Photo Uploaded to a Server?

Not at all. This tool works entirely on 100% client-side JavaScript — meaning everything happens right inside your browser. Your photo never goes to any server. That's what makes this tool completely private, secure, and fast. You don't even need to create an account.
